013: for the ashes of all dead soldiers south or north [CIVIL WAR]
Violet: Vicksburg, Battle of. My group appears to have landed in the middle of it. That is, Dr. Rhodes, Christian Cox, Cole Jones, Ricki Dalton, Sabrina Quigg, Sully McCoy, Regina Ivanova, and myself.

My Civil War history is a bit spotty -- I've never been particularly adept with dates and the like -- but Regina seems to k is there anything specific we ought to know about it?

Okay. Charlie's working on some coding that should tell us if anything that--changes.

As far as Vicksburg goes, it was more a siege. You said you can hear actual fighting?

Gunshots and cannons, yes.

Oh God The internet tells me you have a very long siege ahead of you, then, if you don't get out of there. Almost forty days.

The town surrenders on July 4th, ceding full command of the Mississippi River to the Union.

Seconding what Quintella said, with the addition: there are Union blockades along almost the entire eastern corridor of the town. You are hedged in on the west by the the Mississippi River.

For when you find out the date: May 19th is the attack against Stockade Redan by the Union, at the point where Graveyard Road leads out of Vicksburg, at the northeast corner. That may be what you're hearing now.

On the night of May 21st, the city will be hit with artillery. DON'T Again, I would stay away from the eastern blockades. In the morning, this will continue, and at 10am attacks will be made along a 3+ mile front. Graveyard Road and Jackson will be the main targets, along with the 3rd Louisiana Redan and the Great Redoubt. Other Union forces will approach south of this, along the southern railroad of Mississippi

So far, all safe, but I believe attempting to get out might put us in more danger than we are now. How are you holding up, besides the shopping?

The subject of shelter hasn't come up quite yet. Right now, we're a bit preoccupied with -- well. Looking as though we aren't time travelers from the future. It's a bit more difficult than one might expect, although I suppose you already know that.

The how would be 'rather frustrated'. As for where/when, oh, all over the place. Trying to find you all. It's difficult to believe how idiotic people are when it comes to describing their exact location beyond "somewhere full of dirt and trees"! Oh!

I'm sorry to hear that -- at least your "corporeal" form is still rooted in Neopolis, correct?

We're a bit better off than some, as the natives here speak English. I'll see if I can't get back to you with a date that's more specific than "sometime between May 18 and July 4, 1863."

Yes, with quite a terrible headache from all this projecting! I've only managed to find the Chicago-ites so far, thanks to Isaac Crowley. And oh, if you could, that would be incredibly helpful; but in the meantime, do stay safe! Don't let the Confederacy get you? Oh, that sounds odd to say.

If you need to take a breather, I would say you're allowed. It's not as though any of us are going anywhere anytime soon, after all.

If it's any help, Violet seems to believe it might be May 19, and all evidence I can see would support this.

I believe so. Even if there is quite a bit of conflict going on not too far from the present location, it should remain contained, and none of us have been personally attacked yet. Minotaurs aside, how is Rome?

By the by, I would suggest you not drink the water. Lead pipes -- and possibly foreign microbes.

I do not think I can put the minotaur aside.

There is a language barrier and the only other form of communication is with swords.

I will try to avoid it but the only alternative seems to be wine. I will just go thirsty for a while I think.

I suppose, if worst comes to worst, boiling should kill any dangerous microorganisms, and short term exposure to an increased amount of lead shouldn't have any serious long-terms effects. It's preferable to death from dehydration, at any rate.

Have you

Are you absolutely certain? I don't remember hearing you were in Austin's group in the Cretaceous.

Furthermore, even if I did build time machines, I doubt I would be able to do so whilst under siege in nineteenth century Mississippi.
